In 1948, on a visit to relatives in Pawtucket, Rose met her future husband. She was a longtime parishioner of the former Church of St. Leo the Great, now St. John Paul II Parish. Rose was a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella for over twenty-five years and was involved in many of the parish’s committees and ministries. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her homeland of Northern Ireland, where she would visit with her family and dear friends. Rose was proud of her Irish Heritage, and loved to sing and dance, especially Irish music and Irish Step Dancing.

They eventually found their way to Behlen Mfg. Co. in Columbus, Nebraska in 1982, when TR started as a General Manager for Wickes Corporation. In 1984 TR led a management buyout with Richard Casey, Stephen McGill, and Bob Theilen, as Behlen experienced major losses due to market changes, and Wickes emerged from Chapter 11.
